Where buyers look
In a search engine a manufacturer is found by what its page contains: company data, models, prices. Google also reads company data in structured form (Google: Organization).
AI assistants can read external data sources through the open MCP protocol (modelcontextprotocol.io). If a manufacturer's prices are in such a source, the assistant can answer a buyer's question with the manufacturer's own numbers.
Answer with a price, not a form
A buyer who sees a “request a quote” form does not yet know whether the house fits their budget. A price for their dimensions answers that question at once; a form postpones the answer.
A calculator on the manufacturer's own page
A calculator works out the price by the manufacturer's own rules: the buyer enters dimensions and options, and the result is the manufacturer's number, not an intermediary's estimate.
Speed of response
When the buyer has already seen the price, the enquiry is specific: dimensions, options and the amount. Such an enquiry can be answered without a first round of questions.
Demand nobody answered
jem.house counts requests that come from AI assistants and that no manufacturer answers with its calculator.
